In a recent Gemini Advanced release notes update from Google, it was announced that users can now edit and run Python code snippets directly in the platform’s user interface. Excited to try out this new feature, I signed up for Gemini Advanced, adding it to my list of monthly AI-related expenses.
Upon pasting a simple Python script into the interface, I was able to see the output of the code but was unable to find any way to edit or run it as promised. Frustrated by this discrepancy, I reached out to Gemini Advanced for clarification, only to be redirected to a crypto site called Gemini.com.
After pointing out this error to Gemini Advanced, they acknowledged the confusion and admitted that the feature I was looking for may not be publicly accessible yet. Despite Google’s claims of the feature being available “now,” it seems that it is still under development and not ready for public release.
This experience serves as a reminder that product releases can be complex and challenging, even for a company as large as Google. While I’m hopeful that the inline Python editing feature will eventually be implemented successfully, it’s clear that there are still some kinks to work out.
In the meantime, I raise a mug of coffee to the Gemini Advanced teams and look forward to testing out future updates. Have you tried Bard, Gemini, or Gemini Advanced? Share your experiences in the comments below.
